You carried me back there and then to NYC in 70s/80s. cebhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08764860180439604217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6507365900573255257.post-69668112173767019202021-03-28T10:33:56.488-04:002021-03-28T10:33:56.488-04:00ABSOLUTE artistry in telling this story, Ellery, a...ABSOLUTE artistry in telling this story, Ellery, as is the depth, beauty, realism, and relatableness of it's content. In turn, he asked if I had ever heard of a tenor player from an east coast city. He handed me a CD and said, "this guy is incredible, but he's never left his town, has no desire for the road. So no one knows of him. And I don't really need any more reviews."<br />So I did the review. And never heard about the unknown guy again, and the review didn't make it into a newer version of my website.<br />Our brains are amazing. Unless there is destructive trauma, we retain every experience we ever had, as well as those of our ancestors. A certain smell takes us back to a meal our grandmother cooked, stuff like that.<br />Long-form writing like you've done here, well, I just dig it. Writing short is really hard, really hard. But writing long is tough too, I imagine like taking a long horn solo to make a coherent, satisfying statement. I've only just read your tall tale, not listened to the music yet. But you are provoking that 'scent' of memory, and now I have to search my resources and find/post that long-forgotten review.<br />Thanks for the memory....and the music.Laurence Svirchevhttp://www.misterioso.orgnoreply@blogger.com
